Dr Berlinde Verbruggen joined Infinitus Clinical Research as European Medical Director. She qualified in medicine from the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles). She specialised in anaesthesiology and intensive care, training at the VUB, the Flemish university hospital of Brussels, and at the CHU, the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (Hôpital St Charles: neonatal and paediatric anaesthesia and Gui de Chauliac: neuro-anaesthesia and neuro- intensive care and pain management) in Montpellier, France.  After several years of clinical experience she joined the medical department of The Upjohn Company in Belgium, where she held the position of Clinical Research Manager for the Benelux countries. A longstanding member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, Dr Verbruggen was working as a freelance consultant to the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors immediately prior to joining Infinitus.
